Despite being boozy as all hell, this one is smoooooooth and stemmed from a Manhattan when we were generously gifted some TX Whiskey and Bourbon.
THE ROOT - Manhattan
2 oz whiskey or bourbon
.75 oz Sweet vermouth
3 dashes Angostura bitters
Garnish: 1 maraschino cherry
Stir and Strain. Serve up. Garnish with cherry.
We recommend going straight for the show off on this one and skipping the middle experiments so you can keep it in balance. This drink doesn’t offer much room to hide.
THE SHOW OFF - Feat Rob Thomas
2oz TX Bourbon (or your preferred brand)
.5 oz Del Maguey Vida Mezcal
.25 oz sweet vermouth
.25 oz Black Strap Rum
3-4 dashes clementine bitters*
Garnish: burnt organe peel.
Glass: Coupe
Stir and strain into a coup. Taking a lighter in one hand and your orange peel, pith-side facing you, in the other hand, squeeze orange oil in front of flame over your drink. Garnish with peel.
*Check below for recipe. If you don't have any on hand, you can sub with Angostura bitters.
